何度も那須を訪れているうちに、「別荘を新築したい」という思いが強くなり、ついに実行に移しました。
実は、このサイトに掲載している観光情報は、私が那須に別荘を建築した際に、 打合せで何度も那須を訪れる必要があり、そのときに色々と観光をした経験を記録に残しておこうと考えたことが出発点となっているのです。 As I visited Nasu many times, my wish to build a vacation house became stronger, and I finally did it.
In fact, this sightseeing site started when I built my house in Nasu and had to visit many times for meetings. I decided then to record my sightseeing experiences.

それまでの人生で、家を新築したことはありませんでしたが、正直、大変でした。
しかも、あらかじめハウスメーカーが用意しているプランの中から選ぶような新築ではなくて、 建築士さんとまっさらな状態で、一から家を新築するという経験です。 I had never built a house before, and to be honest, it was hard.
I did not choose a ready-made plan from a housing maker. I worked with an architect and built the house from scratch.

まずは土地探しから始まり、事前の地盤調査を依頼、間取りを決めて、銀行からの資金調達。
床は何にするか、壁はどうするか、キッチンはオリジナルで作ってみようとか。
決めることが多すぎて、なおかつ「失敗した」では済まされないとの思いから真剣に考えるので、 脳みそが痺れるくらい色々と勉強もしました。 First I looked for land, then I ordered a ground survey, decided the layout, and arranged financing from the bank.
I chose the floor and wall materials and even designed an original kitchen.
There were so many decisions, and I could not afford to fail, so I studied a lot until my brain felt tired.

私の別荘利用の仕方は、大きな連休を利用して観光に訪れることがメインです。
春のGW、夏休み、年末年始。
それぞれ大変に観光客で賑わう季節ですが、別荘があれば宿泊の予約を気にする必要はありません。
那須に行けば、そこに「家」があるのですから。
地元の新鮮な食材を入手して、お気に入りのタイルをたっぷりと使いオリジナルで作ったキッチンで お料理するのも楽しみの一つです。 I mainly use the house when I visit Nasu for sightseeing during long holidays.
I go during Golden Week, summer vacation, and New Year holidays.
These seasons are very crowded, but with a vacation house, I do not need to worry about hotel reservations.
When I go to Nasu, my “home” is already there.
I also enjoy buying fresh local food and cooking in my original kitchen with my favorite tiles.

私は、たまに訪れる「家」で掃除に悩まされるのも嫌だと考え、メンテナンスフリーを目指しました。
おかげ様で、那須の「家」を訪れた際には、最初にちょっと掃除機をかけるだけで、 すぐに利用を始めることができる快適さを得ました。
そして、「家」を建てる際には、誰に建築を頼むか？が最も重要な要素であることも学びました。 I did not want to spend my rare visits doing heavy cleaning, so I aimed for a low-maintenance house.
Thanks to that, when I arrive in Nasu, I only need to vacuum a little and can use the house right away.
I also learned that choosing the right builder is the most important decision in house construction.

何度も那須を訪れて少しづつ家を建てていく工程は、想像したよりも色々と大変でしたが、 楽しみながら夢中で取り組むことができました。
百聞は一見にしかず、人生の中で一度は「ゼロからの家作り」に挑戦してみるのも、 面白い経験だと思いますよ。 It was harder than I expected to visit Nasu many times and build the house step by step, but I still enjoyed the process and focused on it.
I think it is a valuable experience to try building a house from zero at least once in your life.

特に「別荘があって良かった」と感じたのは、子供が生まれてからです。
小さな子供はいつ発熱したり体調を崩すかわからないため、泊まりがけでのお出かけを計画しても、 突然の発熱で直前に中止になったり、急遽帰宅になったりもしょっちゅうです。 I especially felt happy to have a vacation house after my child was born.
Small children can get sick suddenly, so overnight trips are often canceled at the last minute or cut short.

そんな予測のできない子供の体調変化にも、別荘利用なら臨機応変に対応できます。
宿の予約変更やキャンセルに頭を悩ませる必要がないのが、最大のメリットです。 With a vacation house, we can respond flexibly to these sudden changes in our child’s condition.
We do not need to worry about changing or canceling hotel reservations, and that is a big advantage.

子供にとっては、自然が豊富な那須ならではの「体験」をすることで、 「自然の中で生かされている存在」という認識が育まれ、生きていく上で重要なメタ認知能力を 高めることができます。 For children, rich nature in Nasu offers many special experiences.
Through these, they can feel that they live within nature and can develop important meta-cognition for life.
