Kuroiso Station is on the Tohoku Main Line. Here the line changes from DC electrification in the south to AC in the north, so the train operation systems are divided.
Railway fans, including children, may be lucky enough to see locomotives for freight trains being changed here.
Also, most places now use onboard switching between DC and AC, but Kuroiso Station is the only station in Japan that uses a ground-based switching system.
