電動ろくろが楽しめると評判の亀工房さんにやってきました。
一度は体験してみたかった電動ろくろ。
どんな感じかなー。

I arrive at Kame Kobo, which is known for its fun electric wheel class.
I have always wanted to try it at least once.
I wonder what the experience will be like.

お庭にあるミニログハウスが教室です。
グループ貸し切りなので、集中して取り組むことができます。

The classroom is a small log cabin in the garden.
Because one group uses it at a time, you can concentrate well on your work.

まずは粘土の扱い方について、基本をレクチャーしていただきます。
講師の北川さんのお話がとっても面白くて、ニヤニヤしながら説明を聞きます。

First, we receive a lesson on the basic way to handle clay.
The instructor, Mr. Kitagawa, explains in a very humorous way, and I listen with a smile.

そして、いよいよ制作開始。
うまくできるかなー。

Then we finally start making our pieces.
I wonder if I can make something well.

見てみて、いい感じじゃない？
粘土が手の中で自在に形を変えていく感覚は慣れるととっても気持ちいい～。
時間の経つのを忘れて、無心に制作に取り組みました。
Look, it looks quite good, doesn’t it?
Once I get used to it, the feeling of the clay changing shape in my hands is very pleasant.
I forget about the time and focus only on making my piece.

陶芸は、手に馴染む土の感触が心地よくて、クセになりそうです。
亀工房・講師の北川さんは、褒めて伸ばすタイプ。
「いいですねー、さすがですねー、才能ありますねー」と、沢山褒めてくださるので、気持ちよく陶芸を楽しむことができます。
お話も面白いくて、また来たいなーって思ってしまいます。
多少失敗しても、焼きあげる前に手直ししてくださるので、安心です。
カオリのオススメは暖かい時期に夕方から陶芸体験を始めること。
だんだん日が落ちてきて、那須ならではの静寂な夜も一緒に楽しむことができます。
きっと闇夜に紛れて、陶芸への集中力が高まってくるのを感じることでしょう。
近くの木にはカブト虫も飛んできます。
Pottery has a charm that can make you want to do it again, because the feel of the clay in your hands is very pleasant.
Mr. Kitagawa at Kame Kobo is a teacher who encourages you by giving praise.
He often says, “That is good,” “As expected,” or “You have talent,” so you can enjoy the class with confidence.
His stories are also fun, and they make you want to visit again.
Even if you make some mistakes, he fixes them before firing, so you can relax and enjoy the process.
I recommend starting the pottery experience in the late afternoon during the warm season.
As the sun sets, you can also enjoy the quiet night air that is special to Nasu.
In the darkness, you may feel your focus on pottery grow deeper, and sometimes beetles fly to the nearby trees.
