Kurobane Kanko Yana

1 / Kurobane Kanko Yana 1
Hello, this is Kaori.
On hot summer days I want to play in the water, so I visit Kurobane Kanko Yana.
A large traditional fish trap (“yana”) stands in the river and shows a typical Japanese summer scene.
Here you can enjoy both playing in the river and eating ayu (sweetfish) dishes.

Because I wanted to cool off in summer, I decided to visit Kurobane Kanko Yana.

I was surprised by the very large “yana” built in the river.
You can walk up onto the trap and look at it from close by.

We played in the water around the trap.
The river water is cold, but you can safely enjoy the water while you look for small creatures in the shallows.

After playing in the river, we enjoy ayu kamameshi, rice cooked in a small pot with sweetfish.

This tastes really good.
Eating in this atmosphere of “the Japanese summer” makes me want to forget everything else and enjoy the moment on this summer afternoon.

(Kaori’s Highlights)

Playing in the river feels very good because the water is cool.
Staff members near the trap gave us a short explanation of how it works.
I was impressed by the wisdom of people in the past.

A meal after river play tastes especially good.
Maybe it is because we get hungry, and the open-air feeling also makes it better.
A cold beer looks very nice, and there are dishes such as river-fish tempura too.
It really feels like the Japanese summer, and time seems to pass a little more slowly here.
