Hello, I am Kaori.
This is Usaburo, a popular restaurant.
It is part of the SUZUYA group, like Ubud Nasu, the Stained Glass Museum, and Michel Garden Court.

Usaburo exterior

This is Usaburo, a popular restaurant.
Like Ubud Nasu, the Stained Glass Museum, and Michel Garden Court, it is part of the SUZUYA group.

Usaburo entrance

This is the entrance. It is very small.
You slide the door open and step inside.
This small entrance surprises you and makes you look forward to the meal.

Usaburo earthen floor area

Inside, there is a traditional earthen floor space.
Many small, stylish items are displayed there.

Usaburo corridor seating

I chose a chair in the corridor.
It felt unusual, but the corridor was not cold at all.
Hidden heaters keep the space warm without being visible.

Usaburo steamed rice

Then a steamed rice dish arrived.
It comes in a two-tiered box, so the portion is quite large.
If you cannot finish it, staff pack the leftovers for you to take home.

Usaburo close-up of rice

The rice is very tasty. I really like steamed rice dishes.
All SUZUYA group locations in the Nasu Highlands are designed by the well-known
Raymond Architectural Design Office, and Usaburo is also their work.
At first glance, it looks like an ordinary old house, but there is floor heating even in the corridor,
and heaters are hidden in the ceiling, so the rooms are very comfortable.
It is such a pleasant building that you may think, "I want to live in a house like this."

(Kaori's Highlights)

Usaburo rice and mochi

Usaburo specializes in steamed rice dishes and mochi. Both are very tasty, though the portions are large.
Staff will pack leftovers for you to take home.
It looks like a traditional old house, but the insulation and floor heating are modern,
so the building is comfortable and full of hidden facilities.
