If you visit Numappara Marshland and Otome Falls and then drive toward Itamuro Onsen, you should stop here.
It is on a downhill road and is easy to miss, so please watch carefully.
You can enjoy country-style dishes cooked over charcoal in an irori (traditional sunken hearth).
The main dish is a set meal with live char (iwana) slowly grilled over the charcoal.

If you go toward Itamuro Onsen after visiting Numappara Marshland and Otome Falls, this is a good place to stop for a meal.
It is on a downhill road and is easy to pass, so please watch carefully.

This restaurant has an irori charcoal hearth and serves dishes cooked over it, which you can enjoy right at your seat.

I order the salt-grilled char (iwana) set meal.
A live char comes on a skewer, ready for grilling.
It cooks slowly over the charcoal, still moving its mouth for a while.

It is very hot.
Because of the gentle heat from the charcoal, you can bite from the head and eat even the bones.
The set also comes with rice cooked with millet.

Another highlight is the simmered udon that comes in a separate iron pot.
The soup flavor goes into the noodles, and it tastes very good.
I enjoy this dish very much.

It feels like pure happiness.
My colleague “Amazoness” from work feels so satisfied that she ends up sitting cross-legged and relaxing.

(Kaori’s Highlights)
Here is a small useful tip.
I buy a bottle of their “house sake” (not a normal local brand) that they sell in the restaurant, and it tastes very good.
The owner asks the brewery to brew it only for this restaurant, so it is really his “own sake.”
The price is reasonable, but if they sold it widely, I think people would call it a top-class daiginjo sake.
This is a special recommendation from sake-loving Kaori.
